Street Sense Organisation, other Partners Grow 1,000 Tree to Mark World Environment Day 2021

As part of its objective to encourage and promote tree growing along streets, SSO is partnering with key stakeholders to undertake a tree-growing exercise along the Korle-Bu Mortuary, Ring Road West Road in Accra.

The exercise is in commemoration of the World Environment Day 2021 which falls on June 5. It is under the theme: “Ecosystem Restoration.” Other details of the event are as follows:

  • Time: 7 am
  • Converging point: Bukom Boxing Arena

The tree-growing exercise will help beautify and smarten up Accra by providing shade along pedestrian walkways and greening open spaces, as well as help to control road accidents and mitigating effects of climate change.

Partners of this event include:

  • The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA)
  • Then Ghana Forestry Commission (GFC)
  • The Ghana Recycling Initiative by Private Enterprises (GRIPE)
  • The Ghana Wildlife Society
  • Let’s Do It Ghana

Over 300 volunteers are expected to participate in the program.
