Street Sense Organisation Supports Police Service during Presidential Swearing-In Ceremony

Street Sense Organisation (SSO), has presented 500 pieces of branded reflective vests to the Motto Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service.

The vests, valued at GH¢195,000 is to be worn by policemen deployed to various checkpoints and precincts of Parliament to ensure free flow of traffic and road safety during the presidential swearing-in ceremony on January 7, 2021.

The vests will continue to be used by the Police Service after the presidential inauguration to facilitate its work in ensuring safety on the roads.

Presenting the items on behalf of SSO, Mr. Samson Oddoye, the National Coordinator of SSO said the donation was in response to a request made by the Police Service to SSO to support the policemen during the presidential inauguration.

He said statistics on road accidents in Ghana were worrying, indicating that road safety was a critical area that needed a collaborative effort from all key stakeholders.

To this end, Mr. Oddoye pledged SSO’s unflinching support for road safety campaigns and continuous collaboration with the Police Service, saying “we want to work with the MTTD to ensure our roads are safe".

He appealed to drivers and all road users to adhere to safety measures to ensure safety on the roads.

The Director of Operations of MTTD, Superintendent of Police, Dr. Sasu Mensah who received the vests commended the SSO for the kind gesture.

He said the MTTD’s partnership with the SSO dated back five year ago, for which the SSO had been very supportive during the period.

SOP Dr. Mensah said the vests would further enhance the safety of the personnel who put their lives on the line to keep the roads safe.

He assured that the vests will be used for the objective for which they were given to the MTTD.

He was hopeful that the continuous support of partners like the SSO would help reduce road accidents in the country.
